Mario's owner Francisco Ibarra, knows Mexican cuisine and hospitality like no place you have been before. It could be that his beginnings at The Mansion on Turtle Creek, has stuck with him for 20 years.

Francisco told me a story long ago, how brother Arturo, owner of San Miguel's in McKinney, sent him home, "more than once" because he was too young to be in business.

Seems that Francisco made it to the Mansion anyway, and today owns and operates Mario's Chiquita in Plano... with the help of his family and staff, of which many come from home town San Miguel, Mexico. If you have not been to San Miguel's in McKinney, the only best thing would be to eat in both places in the same day, and Many of us do!

San Miguel Mexico is a fun and happy place I am told and the celebration of life is a tradition. Here In Texas, we have a little tradition of our own called Happy Hour.

• Monday and Tuesday, Happy Hour runs from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.

• Wednesday, Happy Hour lasts all day.

• Thursday and Friday, it’s from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

• Draft domestic beer $1.50

• Draft imported beer $2.00

• Imported and domestic bottled beer $2.50

• Frozen or on-the-rocks margaritas $2.50
